When Does the New Mercedes-Benz GLB Go On Sale?
2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB US Release Date and Features
The SUV game is hot right now, and Mercedes-Benz just drafted a new player into the mix: the GLB. Versatile, powerful, luxurious and spacious all describe this new SUV that will roll out for the 2020 model year. As we gear up for its release date, allow us to walk you through some of the Mercedes-Benz GLB’s most exciting features.
But first, let’s answer that question you can’t stop thinking about. When can you actually get behind the wheel of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB?
Well, following the new SUV’s world premier in Utah last June, the vehicle is expected to go on-sale at some point by the end of the year. Unfortunately, we don’t have a more specific date to provide you, but the good news is that you won’t have to wait any longer than the rest of 2019.
GLB Interior Space
Now, let’s dive into what we can expect from the new GLB. First off, let’s talk about size. The GLB will be available in two forms: a 5-seater and a 7-seater. The 7-seat version is optional and contains three seats in the second row and two seats in the third row.
Of course, you’ll also want to consider cargo. With the 5-seat variety, the GLB can handle up to 20 cubic feet of cargo while also utilizing all the seats for passengers. This is pretty impressive. But, if you do need more room, you can fold some seats down for up to 62 cubic feet of cargo space.
Engine & Performance
Powering the GLB is a 2-liter M 260 engine. Mercedes-Benz engineers have used something they call “trumpet-honing,” referring to the cylinder bore process that reduces piston friction and consumption. At the end of the day, the engine pumps out 221 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.
This is paired with an 8G-DCT automatic transmission. Of course, there is also the 4MATIC® AWD system, using various driving modes like Eco/Comfort for an 80:20 torque distribution, Sport for a 70:30 distribution and off-road for a 50:50 distribution.*
