2021 Mercedes-AMG® GLB 35 Engine Specs and Performance Features

It wasn’t long ago that Mercedes-Benz unveiled the latest addition to its SUV lineup, known as the GLB. Already, however, we’re back with more GLB news from the three-pointed star manufacturer. This time, we’re talking about the Mercedes-AMG® GLB 35, which is sure to enhance the driving experience for performance-focused drivers via thrilling engine specs.

For those who don’t know, Mercedes-AMG® models come equipped with an AMG® engine, offering greater performance for drivers who want it. With all the exciting things we have already learned about the upcoming GLB, this addition to the GLB lineup makes things even more exciting.

Mercedes-AMG® GLB 35 Engine Horsepower and Torque

The engine for this particular model is a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine with a turbocharger. It will be paired with an AMG® SPEEDSHIFT® DCT 8G dual-clutch transmission.

Output for this engine comes out to 302 horsepower at 5,800-6,100 rpm. For torque, you’re looking at 295 lb-ft at 3,000-4,000 rpm. This helps give the vehicle that jolt you want to feel at lower rpms to get the vehicle moving in a speedy manner.

When all is said and done, the Mercedes-AMG® GLB 35 can reach a top speed of 155 mph. That’s not bad… not bad at all. What is particularly impressive, however, is the 0 – 60 mph acceleration time. From a dead stop, the SUV can sprint up to 60 mph in only 5.1 seconds. To put it simply, this SUV is going to be one blast to drive.

AMG® Design Cues

In typical Mercedes-AMG® fashion, there will also be some design enhancements. For this version of the GLB, we’re looking at a roof spoiler and uniquely designed grille. The model has 5-spoke gray wheels with a high-sheen finish paired with silver brake calipers. These wheels are 19 inches, but larger wheels are available. Additionally, if you like the look, you can also opt for a Night Package to add black tailpipe and bumper trim.

This is all great news, but as you may have guessed by the model year, there is one bit of bad news. It’s going to be a while before we can get behind the wheel and enjoy the thrilling performance specs of the 2021 Mercedes-AMG® GLB 35. The car will make its world premier at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show in September but won’t go on sale here in the United States until late next year, 2020.
