Luxury sport sedans like the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C 300 and the BMW 330i attract buyers with their impeccably crafted cabins and head-turning style. That said, it can be difficult to choose among a selection of head turners.
That's why we created this comparison guide, where we delve into the major differences between these two models. Check it out before you make your next purchase.
The 2017 Mercedes-Benz C 300 takes the lead here, because its standard features include high-tech driver aids. The drowsy driver monitor, for example, detects signs of fatigue during late-night highway rides, and it lets you know when it's time to pull into the nearest rest stop. The frontal collision warning with automatic braking is also standard equipment. It's designed to sense an oncoming crash and actively apply the brakes to help you come to a quick stop. The BWM 330i also offers all the latest safety aids. The rearview camera is a lifesaver when you're backing out of a parking space with minimal visibility. Use it to spot anything in your path, including skateboards and roller skates. If you're stuck in heavy highway traffic, use the blind-spot monitoring system to help you switch lanes. However, the BMW 330i's full suite of driver aids come at an extra cost, unlike with the C 300.
The C 300 powertrain, which includes a turbocharged engine and a smooth-shifting seven-speed automatic transmission, delivers the exact performance you want in a luxury sport sedan. It feels both comfortable and powerful, with abundant acceleration to get you up to 60 mph in no time. Add the Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC® all-wheel-drive system for an even stickier performance, with sharper cornering and increased precision over slick pavement. When you hit the gas in the 330i, you'll be handsomely rewarded with speed. However, the BWM 330i doesn't deliver as much torque as the C 300, giving the 300 the edge when it comes to sporty handling.
Tech & Convenience
The BMW 330i's iDrive infotainment interface features crisp graphics and a speedy processor. You won't get lost in a sea of menus because the system is intuitive and easy to use. The 330i comes with an impressive audio setup, but audiophiles will be pleased to note that they can upgrade to a 16-speaker harman/kardon® surround sound system. Either way, your favorite commuting soundtracks are going to get the star treatment. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz C 300 uses the COMAND® interface, which also provides crisp graphics and an easy-to-use interface. Like with the BWM 330i, you'll enjoy smartphone integration features that help you make hands-free calls or stream all your favorite music. The console-mounted dial controller can take a little getting used to, and the central display screen, at 7 inches, is slightly smaller than that of the iDrive, which stands at 8.8 inches. *harman/kardon® and Logic 7® are registered trademarks of Harman International Industries, Inc. When you imagine the perfect luxury cabin, odds are it looks a lot like the inside of the C 300. It comes standard with synthetic leather MB-Tex upholstery, which looks and feels like the real deal. However, you can also opt into leather upholstery for a more premium vibe. Dual-zone automatic climate control lets driver and front passenger set their own temperatures and creates a more enjoyable ride. In convertible models, the AIRSCARF® system wraps your neck and shoulders with warm air, so you can drop the top year-round. We do like the 330i's power-adjustable sport seats, which do an excellent job of keeping you snug and supported during speedy rides, but we're not as thrilled with the 330i's premium vinyl upholstery. It's an upgrade from a standard sedan's interior, but it's not quite as classy as the C 300's MB-Tex or leather options.
Each of these luxury sport sedans has their own unique style and appeal, but the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C 300 is the standout of the two. The cabin delivers the luxury style shoppers crave when they're shopping this upscale segment, with handsome upholstery and the innovative COMAND® infotainment interface. Standard safety features do an excellent job of alerting you to danger - even if that danger is you and it's time to pull over and rest while thrilling acceleration and sharp handling are always at your command.
